I used to use this company fairly regularly, but they are definitely a risk now. They always list great prices online, but when you order something, it takes days for them to process and ship, and if the price is "too good", they simply cancel your order after about 4 days of no communication even though the items still appear on their site as "in stock". This has happened to me on 3 of my last 4 orders. I will no longer use this store and I recommend you look elsewhere also. Don't even bother trying to get answers from their customer service... I ordered a tape autoloader from these guys. Never got a confirmation email so I called their customer service desk. No one answered and I was promted to leave a message. No one called back 24 hours later so I called again. The customer service rep said she resent the email 3 times. It still never came through, finally I had her fax it to me. Said she would get the tracking number and fax it to me by the end of the day. Still as of today I have no tracking number, and no item. When I called back again she has asked me to wait until the end of the day for the tracking number. It strikes me as odd that a company that does business over the Internet everyday would have no mechanism to find the tracking number without having to call the shipping company to retrieve it. They're stalling for time. Overall Rating

I initially read all the one star reviews, but thought these were just BS. To my stupidity, I still ordered from them – 2 Western Digital hard drives priced at $60/drive. After ordering, I called the next day to see when the shipment would be delivered. Apparently there was a “glitch” in their system and the price that I purchased the drives for (and I received a confirmation email from them) was incorrect and the correct price was double what the site was selling for. Complete waste of time. Perfect example of a “bait and switch”. The best part of all of this, a few days later I checked their site again and they are still selling the same drive for $60. Don’t waste your time… Overall Rating

placed an order for 2 "ST34520N Medalist pro hard drive HARD DRIVES" on Sept 13th, 2011. Today is Oct 10th. After 2 weeks of daily 20 min phone calls with them I received a tracking number and hoping that I will actually get the part tomorrow. They are located in CA, the warehouse is in TX. I'm not sure if that warehouse is even belongs to them since, they have almost no control over the warehouse. Moreover, every time I called they told me that they would send me an e-mail or call with the status, but they've never done so. Also, I was charged on the day of the order, meaning they've been using my money for the last 3 weeks... Fraud agencies will be happy to hear about that. Please avoid buying from this company. With such attitude, they shall go out of business. Overall Rating

If you notice all the GOOD comments in these reviews, they were added the same day the PriceGrabber accounts were created....I'd call them all fake. This appears to be a SCAM. The 1-800 number is disconnected today. They do not return calls and emails. I do not have a UPS tracking number. I do not have my purchased product. $190 has been deducted from my credit card. I likely won't see it either based on the long history of unsatisfied customers. Fool me once, shame on me... Overall Rating

I ordered a projector I knew was no longer manufactured, but the website listed it as "new", & it was priced as new. I received a call within an hour or so confirming my shipping address. 4-5 days later I received a call causing confusion about whether the projector was "new" or "like new" and nowhere on the site or my receipt did it say anything about being refurbished. I was then told I would have 30 days to return the item if it was not satisfactory. 7 days later, the item finally arrived and I was shocked to find that a projector I had just paid over $600 for showed up in the manufacturer's box with the handle sticking out, with my name and address written over other writing. The box was ripped and dented in places and there was not a single piece of tape holding it shut anywhere. I opened the box to find the projector & cords, no manual, & no receipt/invoice. I was called a few days later, & told I had 7 days to return it, and have been called 3 times to fill out this review. Overall Rating

I was prowling online for a discontinued wireless AP and found via froogle.com that Compu-America had several in stock, I needed 20. I inquired online as to availability and got a call back within 15 minutes. They did not have them locally but could find them,and find them they did. The purchase was handled via credit card and processed swiftly, professionally and courteously. Several days later the product arrived with absolutely no issues. A very impressive "blind" purchase. This was a terrible experience! We ordered a monitor, did not receive the model ordered, what was sent was clearly used, no manuals, scratched, would not display the resolutions that it should, this is a 22 inch monitor that will display 1024x768 tops. Contacted numerous times to arrange return, never have they returned mails or phone calls. this is the kind of internet merchant to watch out for. Overall Rating

Diane in my office ordered this phone (brand-new)for me, which was then delivered to us. I received the phone on 13th-Dec, and found that the phone was in Used condition - the Phone battery was pre-installed, their was existing phone-book and call-log with 25 previously dialed numbers,the phone came in a loose box instead of the original one, "12-08 Refurb" is engraved on the handset and there are some minor scratches on the device/handset. I called Compu-America and spoke to Farid, who mentioned that this phone was shipped from one of their vendors, and the vendor claim that the phone was sent as brandnew. I am still trying to resolve the case, and have been told today that they cannot garantee that they will be able to provide me with a new device and I will have to send the current phone back to them. This is not a good customer service and we had difficult experience to make the order entry and now in receiving the device as brand-new which we paid for. Overall Rating

I tried to check out with Paypal as the area to put your credit card number was not "https" (a safe site). It wouldn't redirect me to Paypal. So I did a little more research and read the bad reviews. I ordered an HP 8100 printer, and was advised by Compu-America's rep by phone that the printer I ordered was not available, but could be replaced with an upgraded 8150dn. I approved the replacement. The item was 144 pounds, and was shipped via UPS. The printer is a refurb, and is working well. The packaging was good, and was delivered in good condition. I would do business again with Compu-America, and would recommend them to others. Overall Rating

DON'T USE THIS VENDOR. Days went by, I tracked the pkg. Someone at Compu-America (Com-Am) had typoed the zip code of our cust's shipping addr. Our pkg was sent to the wrong state. I called Com-Am, to speak with a mngr, in an attempt to fix the issue, and to be comped for the shipping error. Was directed to the head of the shipping dept (HoS). HoS was no help at all. Had implied that I did not give the proper addr when I placed the order, which is not true, as the HoS later confirmed. I was told to call FedEx and have the pkg routed to the correct state. I did this, though the vendor should have called, it was their error. I called HoS back, I asked many times to speak directly with a mngr, as HoS had informed me that he had no authority to offer me a penny disc. Would not xfer me to a mngr. Was finally offered a $35 disc, though HoS had no authority? This insulted me. Not acceptable. Pkg received, printer damaged and unusable, lost our sale. I need 2000 characters to tell all. HORRIBLE Overall Rating

Don't be fooled by any of the 5 star reviews for this company. SKIP all the short "This transaction was great" reviews and read the ones where people took the time to write specifics: While looking for inexpensive memory, Pricegrabber pointed me to Compu-America - their online price was excellent. I watched the price for about a week - no change. On the day I decided to place the order, I called them to confirm price & stock. They had plenty of stock & the price was correct. Later in the day (after placing the order), they contacted me & said the price was wrong. It was an "old" price that "somehow" didn't get updated in the system. The "new" price was double! What a joke! From reading other reviews, it seems they do this quite frequently. I bid a tech job based upon the pricing I received. Now who's going to look bad? ME! I now have to go back to the client and tell them the price is double. Save yourself the grief and purchase from a REPUTABLE online vendor.

Was contacted and told that the part we ordered was not available as "new" but could get as "refurbished". Agreed and returned email stating this was ok. Did not get response and sent an email asking status of order 3 days later. No response so an additional email was sent a few days later. Still no response but 9 days later the package showed up, with Amazon.com and Next Warehouse name on the label, with small print "a gift from Compu-america" on the top of the label.
