It is built on IBM's flagship PCI Token-Ring Adapter technology while providing new and improved Token-Ring functionality. This innovative High-Speed Token-Ring adapter provides auto-sensing for all three speeds. It is suitable for both desktop and servers. By providing 100- Mbps operation for both UTP Category 5 and STP Type 1A cable the adapter offers relief for bottlenecks without requiring cabling changes. High-Speed Token-Ring is the newest enhancement to the IEEE 802.5 industry standard. The High-Speed Token-Ring Alliance a consortium of major Token-Ring vendors chaired by IBM has been leading efforts to provide continuing and increasing value to Token-Ring customers.
